Powder Puff Off to a Sucessful Start
BEVERLY, Mass- North Field
The ladies of their respective Powder Puff teams tore up the turf in the night’s season opener. Winning teams on the night were the Jarheads, The Rookies, and The Ravens. The Rookies and The Dirty B were two freshman teams who show great promise for the next four years with talent on both teams.
Along with the teams some individuals also shined under the lights of North Field. Laura Kanarski of The Ravens had a spectacular night with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Amber Russell of The Rookies rushed for a long touchdown and her teammate Caley Van Brunt had an interception and then rushed for a touchdown to win the game for her team.
There was also a flag football game on the night. AirValair paired off against Winthrop Crew. AirValair won the game with 10 interceptions and 10 touch downs on the night. On defense Mike Hicks, John Halsey, and Joey Cavallaro each had three interceptions. As for the offense Dan Mello had four touchdowns and Joey Cavallaro was right behind with three touchdowns for the night.
Powder Puff and Flag Football will resume on Sunday.
