In one of the first cool crisp nights of the fall the Daiquiris got hot as they started the year off with an outstanding victory over TBD by a score of 67-0. Connor Seymour shined for the Daiquiris on both offense and defense. The Daiquiris seemed very deep in talent and should be atop the league.
In a closer game Team Farmer beat the NARP's in the final seconds of the game 40-39. Both teams dug deep and the game was back and forth and seemed like it could be either teams game. Team Farmer managed to sneak out the win beating the clock and the NARP's.
Some notable offensive players for the first night were Colin Sitarz for the Daiquiris who had a whopping five touchdowns; Brendan Pittsley of 176 Hale Street was right behind with four touchdowns; while Chris Varcaso of the Stepdads, Tucker Grosse of the Mighty Ducks, and Kevin Butler of the NARP's all had three touch downs on the night.
On the other hand there was also some great defense present in the nights season openers. Julian Quinones of the Daiquiris led the night with three interceptions; while Seth Fortier of 176 Hale Street, and Jake Cohen of Claudia Gordon had two on the night.
Seven players from six different teams on the night had sacks. However, only one player had more than one sack and that was Connor Seymour of the Daiquiris. Seymour led the sacks category with an astounding three sacks on the night.
The first night was a success for all participants as flag football is on their way to another year filled with fun and competitive spirit. A special thanks to all officials; flag football will continue its season on Wednesday night.
