Habermehl earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Endicott College in 2010 and for three years has worked with the Boston University men's basketball program as a special assistant to Head Coach Joe Jones and a basketball operations intern.  He handled numerous administrative tasks on a daily basis including travel, facility scheduling, monitoring academic progress of student-athletes, and video exchange.

While at BU, Habermehl was a part of a 2010-11 Terriers program that won the America East Championships and advanced into the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament where they faced national powerhouse, Kansas.  He worked for Patrick Chambers, the current head coach of Penn State University, and assisted in assembling a recruiting class that ESPN ranked top-10 mid-major class in the country.

In 2012 under Coach Jones, Habermehl once again helped to bring in a top-10 recruiting class including ESPN Top 100 recruit Maurice Watson.

Habermehl has also served as the camp administrator for both the Coach Jones Basketball Clinic and the Pat Chambers Basketball Camp.

During his time at Endicott as a student, Habermehl interned with ESPN Radio as well as in the sports information office at BU for the men's and women's basketball programs, a national championship men's hockey team, and the wrestling team.
