Ozycz Claims CCC Defensive Player of the Week Title in Opening Week
BEVERLY, Mass. - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) awarded Endicott men's lacrosse senior midfielder Sam Ozycz (Cheshire, Conn.), Defensive Player of the Week honors after leading the Blue and Green to a 1-1 week.
BEVERLY, Mass. - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) awarded Endicott men's lacrosse senior midfielder Sam Ozycz (Cheshire, Conn.), Defensive Player of the Week honors after leading the Blue and Green to a 1-1 week.
Ozycz averaged 11 groundballs per game last week as he tallied 22 total. The senior was even more impressive on faceoffs as he won 73% of his attempts by winning 37 of 51 on the week.
In Endicott's season-opening 21-9 loss against #6 Stevens, Ozycz grabbed 10 ground balls and won 20 of his 32 faceoffs, good enough for 63%. The senior continued his impressive start to the season against CCC and cross-town rival Gordon later that week. Ozycz gathered 12 groundballs and won 90% of his faceoffs by going 17 for 19.
Ozycz was named preseason Division III All-NEILA First Team for 2013 after having garnered USILA DIII All-American Honorable Mention in 2012.
The Gulls (1-1, 1-0 CCC) host Skidmore on Wednesday, March 6th at 4:00 p.m. This will mark the first time that the two programs have met. Skidmore is currently 1-1 on the season as well having lost to Babson 9-14 and having defeated Bates 12-11.
