#1 Gulls Lay Claim To Three Weekly Awards, Host #4 UNE Wednesday
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - After defeating Western New England to clinch the #1 seed in the upcoming Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) playoffs, Endicott laid claim to three weekly conference awards as Sam Ozycz (Cheshire, Conn.), Joshua Tordik (Sayville, N.Y.) and (Cameron Bell (Falmouth, Maine) all took home honors for their play.
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - After defeating Western New England to clinch the #1 seed in the upcoming Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) playoffs, Endicott laid claim to three weekly conference awards as Sam Ozycz (Cheshire, Conn.), Joshua Tordik (Sayville, N.Y.) and (Cameron Bell (Falmouth, Maine) all took home honors for their play.
Ozycz, who has now earned the honors four times this season, was recently named the CCC Defensive Player of the Year & CCC Senior Scholar-Athlete. The graduate had a career game in the upset win over the Golden Bears as he was 27-28 (.964) on face-offs and recorded an astounding 26 ground balls. Ozycz is ranked in the top-5 nationally in DIII in both categories.
Tordik received CCC Offensive Player of the Week honors for the first time this season. The honors came after the sophomore scored a goal to put the Gulls up 12-11 with 4:34 remaining in the game which wound up being a final of 13-12. Tordik tallied one goal and three assists in the victory, and was recently named an All-CCC honorable mention selection this past week.
Bell earned his fourth CCC Rookie of the Week award this season after posting 16 saves in the win. The freshman recorded a 57.1% save percentage in what was argualbly one of the biggest games of the season. Bell is now 11-4 on the season now with a 6-1 record in CCC games and was recently named as the CCC Rookie of the Year and earned First Team All-Conference honors.
Ozycz, Tordik, Bell and the rest of the squad begin their CCC title push on Wednesday, May 1st at 7:00 p.m. as they play host to the Univ. of New England in the CCC semifinals. UNE upset the Gulls 9-10 in Biddeford, Maine on April 16th.
