SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – After clinching the top seed in the upcoming Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament with a 7-3 week, including a 7-1 record against league opponents, the CCC recognized junior shortstop Kelley Michael (Ipswich, Mass.) and freshman third baseman Sam DiBella (Danvers, Mass.) as this week's Player and Rookie of the Week.
In 10 games this week, Michael .520 (13-for-25) with a game-winning home against Western New England, two doubles, six runs scored, five RBI, and a stolen base. A three-run homerun in the bottom of the third against the Golden Bears helped deliver a 4-2 win over their conference rival while five hits at Nichols and three more at Roger Williams fueled a pair of doubleheader sweeps. In conference play last week, Michael posted a .524 batting average (11-for-21) and a .762 slugging percentage.
Michael is now batting .351 on the year with 17 RBI, 13 runs scored, six extra-base hits, five walks, and two stolen bases. This is her first CCC Player of the Week award of her career.
DiBella collected her first CCC Rookie of the Week award after posting a pair of homeruns, a two-run bomb in a 11-0 rout over Roger Williams and a walk-off solo job in the bottom of the seventh to complete a doubleheader sweep of Salve Regina on Sunday afternoon. DiBella totaled seven RBI, four runs, along with a double in eight games this week. In her rookie season, she is now batting .348 with a team-leading six homeruns and 20 RBI. DiBella has also scored 18 runs and walked five times.
Endicott finishes their regular season schedule on Tuesday, April 23rd with a pair of games against #6 Tufts at home. The doubleheader begins at 3:30 pm.
