NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Endicott women's cross country team
has earned Division III All-Academic team status, announced on
Wednesday by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country
Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team
must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.10 through the 2011 fall
semester. The Gulls exceeded this mark with a team GPA of 3.24.
A total of 187 institutions represent 38 conferences that compose
the group of women's All-Academic teams. Endicott was one of just
three teams from the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) to earn
the distinction, along with Roger Williams and Salve Regina.
The NESCAC and MIAC each had ten institutions make the list to
lead all leagues in Division III. The Centennial, NCAC, and WIAC
followed with nine.
Of the 32 teams that participated in the national championship
meet, 31 of those earned All-Academic status – including all
eight regional champion teams.
In addition to the All-Academic schools, USTFCCCA also announced
the Scholar Team of the Year, which this year went to the Bears of
Washington University (Mo.), who tallied a 3.70 cumulative
GPA.
