MIDDLEBURY, Vt. — The No. 9 Endicott women's ice hockey team fell to No. 1 Wisconsin-River Falls, 3-1, in the championship game of the Panther/Cardinal Classic at Chip Kenyon '85 Arena on Sunday night.
UWRF found the back of the net first in the contest with just under five minutes remaining in the first period.
The score remained 1-0 into the third period when the Falcons scored a second less than five minutes in.
Endicott cut the lead in half with 2:35 to play as Maddie DiNardo (Topsfield, Mass.) lit the lamp on the power-play for her second goal of the season. Both Cammi Ahern (Oswego, N.Y.) and Maggie Holt (Cumberland Foreside, Maine) picked up assists on the tally.
The Falcons regained their two goal advantage a little over a minute later and kept the Gulls off the scoreboard the rest of the way to secure the victory.
Lauren Ferrari (Bridgewater, N.J.) finished the contest with 34 saves in goal as her record goes to 4-1-0 this season.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- First-ever meeting between the two programs.
- Fifth time in program history squaring off with the No. 1 ranked team (1-4 all-time).
- Lilly Corso (Winchester, Mass.) and Ferrari were both named to Panther/Cardinal Classic All-Tournament Team.
- DiNardo now has a point in three consecutive games.
